Comprehensive Web Platform for Sharing Key Global Topics with the Public

The independent, non-governmental organization GLOBSEC aims to enhance security, prosperity, and sustainability in Europe and worldwide. It helps to better understand global trends and their impact on society, the economy, and overall security. Each year, it organizes the GLOBSEC Forum conference, which aims to bring together key foreign and security policy experts and facilitate discussions on major topics.

Representatives from the GLOBSEC organization expressed interest in modernizing their web portal, which serves as the main information channel for disseminating important information to the general public. They also requested that all content from the current portal be preserved and carried over to the new platform.

We specified, designed, and developed a new web portal for GLOBSEC in collaboration with the client. The result is a fully functional and intuitive portal with simple content filtering and search features, and clear pages about events and the organization itself. We incorporated a live feed into the pages and added the option to include links to the live feed with new content. The administration was customized for different content types to ensure simple yet comprehensive content management.

The website is built on the Drupal CMS and includes various web forms with dual spam protection, a cookies compliance module, integration with Google Analytics and MailChimp, and the ability to embed live feeds from Twitter into selected content types, as well as links to podcasts on Spotify, YouTube videos, and many other features.

The project began with an analysis of the existing website and an initial workshop. We also analyzed outputs from analytical tools, which were considered in the solution design.

We proceeded with designing a new information architecture and sitemap, and defining a list of unique pages. After approval, we created wireframes for the entire website and a component library. Once the wireframes were refined according to the client's preferences, we worked on the design, adding colors, styles, content previews, brand elements, and more. We then created a design prototype and prepared all assets for the developers.

After implementation, the content was migrated from the old website to the new one, and the staff was trained in website administration. Finally, the website was deployed to the production environment.

GLOBSEC actively uses its portal to publish short informational updates—known as "News"—to inform the public about global topics related to security, politics, the economy, social development, and more. 

They must have a clear and user-friendly portal where every visitor can quickly find and access the necessary information.
